Ese Oruru, a 14-year-old girl who allegedly abducted from Bayelsa state and married by a man in Kano, has been reportedly released.
Ese has regained her freedom. She was rescued from her abductor, Yinusa, who kidnapped her from her mother's shop in Bayelsa in August 2015, forced her to change her religion and married her. Ese is currently in police custody.
The girl’s release was confirmed by several media resources, however, the exact date when Ese will return home is still unknown, she is currently in police custody. It’s also unclear whether the abducters who violated the country’s laws will be prosecuted.
