Jumbo size rats as big as a cat have been discovered on a London housing estate. The beasts - which an expert says are the largest he's ever seen - were captured in the south of the city on Monday.

The pests were snared by rat catcher Lord Dean Burr from Wimbledon who says he believes the monster creatures are growing so huge they may even be feasting on each other.

Lord Burr, who inherited his title after the death of an uncle, told the Daily Star: “Rats will eat mice and they will eat each other as and when they die.

“So it’s possible that these rats got so big by attacking and eating smaller rats.

“Getting six this big in one swoop is unheard of. I reckon we got the majority of the family.

“They were big, a foot to two feet long – that’s the size of a cat.”

The Lord says he was carrying out a routine inspection of his traps in a housing estate in Tooting, south London, when he discovered the beasts. He displayed the massive rats after they were captured.
